Big Fish may be making its final splash on Broadway December 29, but the larger-than-life musical starring Norbert Leo Butz, Kate Baldwin and Bobby Steggert will live on in a new cast recording. Broadway Records will release the album digitally February 7, 2014 and the CD will hit store shelves February 11.
Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Susan Stroman, Big Fish features music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August. Adapted from Daniel Wallace’s novel of the same name, Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom (Butz), a charismatic man whose unbelievable stories of his epic adventures frustrate his son Will (Steggert). Will embarks on his own journey to find out the truth between his father’s tall tales.
In addition to Butz, Baldwin and Steggert, Big Fish features Krystal Joy Brown as Josephine Bloom, Ciara Renee as the Witch and Zachary Unger and Anthony Pierini alternating the role of Young Will. The cast also includes Ryan Andes as Karl the Giant, Ben Crawford as Don Price, J.C. Montgomery as Dr. Bennett, Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Amos Calloway, Kirsten Scott as Jenny Hill, Sarrah Strimel as Girl in the Water and Alex Brightman as Zacky Price. The ensemble includes Preston Truman Boyd, Bree Branker, Joshua Buscher, Robin Campbell, Bryn Dowling, Jason Lee Garrett, Leah Hofmann, Synthia Link, Angie Schworer, Lara Seibert, Tally Sessions, Cary Tedder and Ashley Yeater.
The Big Fish cast album will include “Time Stops,” “Fight the Dragons,” “Be the Hero,” “I Know What You Want,” “Stranger,” “Little Lamb From Alabama,” “Daffodils” and more songs from the musical.
